How to Make Pizza Stromboli
This stromboli recipe is an irresistibly tasty twist on pizza, and it’s so simple to make. See how to make it, and then, keep scrolling for the full recipe details.
1. Brown the Meat
Cook your ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat until it’s nicely browned and crumbly. As we tested this recipe, we found that allowing the meat to cool back down to room temp after cooking made a huge difference in assembling our stromboli. If the meat is too hot, it warms up the dough and makes it much harder to fold!
2. Prep the Dough
Unroll the Pillsbury™ Classic Crust Pizza Crust, and press it out to form a large rectangle.
3. Add the Fillings
Spread the sauce over the dough, then add the cooked, cooled ground beef and top with cheese, chopped peppers, and Italian seasoning.
4. Seal the Dough and Bake
Fold the dough over the fillings and press the edges of the dough with your fingertips to seal. Pop your stromboli into the oven for 15 to 20 minutes and serve with more marinara sauce for dipping.
Storing and Reheating
Leftover stromboli makes a fantastic lunch or dinner, and it stores well in the fridge or freezer.
Refrigerator
Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
Freezer
Wrap your stromboli tightly in plastic wrap, then put in an airtight container or resealable bag and freeze for up to 6 months.
How to Reheat
- From the Fridge: Place on a baking sheet and cover in aluminum foil so the outside doesn’t burn. Bake in a 350°F oven for 10 to 15 minutes until warmed through.
- From Frozen: Remove from the container and remove plastic wrap, then follow the same instructions as reheating from the fridge—except you’ll want to cook a little longer, around 15 to 20 minutes or until warmed through.
