Recipe Ingredients

Before you get started, gather these ingredients—each one plays a key role in making this baked Brie irresistibly melty and delicious.

Pillsbury™ Original Crescent Rolls or Original Crescent Dough Sheet: Either one will work fine for this recipe. We like using crescent dough instead of puff pastry for baked Brie because it’s ready to use right away, easier to work with, and less messy.

Brie Cheese: Brie is great for baking because it melts beautifully into a rich, creamy texture with a mild flavor. Its edible rind holds everything together, making it perfect for wrapping in pastry.

Egg: Brushing pastry-wrapped Brie with egg (also called an egg wash) gives the crust a glossy, golden finish and helps it brown evenly. It also helps seal the edges and hold decorative pieces in place.

How to Make Baked Brie

Here’s a quick overview of how to make this simple baked Brie appetizer. Check out the full step-by-step instructions below!

1. Heat Oven

While your oven heats, get out the simple ingredients and tools you’ll need to make this baked Brie cheese dish.

2. Prepare the Dough

Use crescent roll dough or a dough sheet to create 2 dough squares, pressing any perforations together. Place one dough square on a baking sheet and top it with a Brie round.

3. Make Cutouts

Use a small cookie cutter or paring knife to cut 4 small decorative shapes from the 4 corners of the second dough square. Set them aside.

4. Fold and Seal the Pastry

Top Brie with the second dough square and fold the corners of the bottom pastry over the top, pressing to seal it completely over the cheese. Brush with beaten egg, add the decorative cutouts, and brush with more egg for a perfectly golden pastry that looks fancy but is oh so easy!

5. Bake

Set your dough-covered Brie in the oven and bake until it’s golden on the outside and hot and melty on the inside.

Storing and Reheating

You’ll rarely have leftovers when you make this crowd-favorite baked Brie recipe! If you do end up with any extra, here’s how to store it.

Refrigerator

Allow your baked Brie to cool completely before transferring it to an airtight container or wrapping it tightly with plastic wrap and storing it in the fridge for 3 to 4 days. For food safety, make sure to refrigerate the baked Brie within 2 hours of baking it.

Reheating

Heat the oven to 350°F, take the Brie out of the fridge and remove any plastic wrap. Place your baked Brie on an oven-safe dish or lined baking sheet and bake it for 10 to 15 minutes or until warmed through and softened. Keep an eye on your baked Brie—you don’t want it to melt too much and lose its shape in the oven!

Baked Brie Variations

Whether you’re baking your Brie in puff pastry or store-bought crescent dough, there are plenty of ways to make a baked Brie both look and taste extra special. Serve it up with any of these tasty toppings and dippers for an indulgent appetizer that’s gone in minutes!

Bread and Crackers: Need something crowd-pleasing to dip in your rich and creamy baked Brie? Crackers or toasted baguette slices hold all that cheesy goodness for an ultra-dippable Brie cheese dish.

Sliced Fruit: The combination of warm, melty Brie and sweet fruit slices creates an irresistible blend of flavors that everyone will love! Serve your baked Brie with red or green-skinned sliced apples and pears to make a super festive Christmas appetizer. Just make sure to brush the fruit slices with a bit of fresh lemon juice to keep them from browning!

Jam or Honey: If you’re a fan of baked Brie with jam, you can’t go wrong with sweet fig or raspberry jam. Serving baked Brie as a Thanksgiving appetizer? Plate it up with a punchy cranberry sauce, or drizzle some classic honey or hot honey on top.

Toasted Nuts: If you want to add some crunch to this soft Brie dish, you can’t go wrong with a sprinkle of toasted nuts—like toasted pistachios, almonds, or walnuts.
